Mike Bruss’ Union Santa Fe & Southern

railroad

This layout will be available for viewing on day, July xx, 2025.

Mike Bruss’ layout is the Union Santa Fe & Southern Railroad, which is owned by the Union Pacific, the Santa Fe, and the Southern Pacific Railroads. The USF&S’ main purpose is the switching of industries in the towns of Lincoln, Julesburg, and Sidney. The rest of the Railroad has trains running from Chicago to Portland and Portland to Chicago. There are through freights, locals, and Passenger trains. The layout has two levels and is in three (3) rooms. During a four-hour OPS Session, as many as thirty (30) trains can be run. During the OPS Session, the layout is controlled by a dispatcher who sits at a portable Dispatchers panel, and orders are given over a radio that each operator has. I have at least seven (7) to eight (8) operators per session. The layout was started in 1992 and has been upgraded four (4) times since then. Control is DCC.
